(For those who have taken the courses and want to submit for evaluation, please read the instructions linked on the table of contents page.)

  1. Create a tiny ontology for the domain of your own interest. Follow the Gene Ontology as close as possible, but of course never copy from it. Try to include at least 30 objects.
    (no limit)
  2. The Gene Ontology (GO) was created to annotate sequences from several genome projects at the beginning and now it is also frequently used for such things as DNA microarray data analysis. Answer the following questions about the Gene Ontology:

    (a) What are the advantages of using GO comparing to plain sequence homology?
    (b) Briefly summarize the purpose of using GO in DNA microarray data analysis.
    (c) What would be your opinion about the weakness or dissatisfaction about current GO.
